I was trying to find something to write about earlier this week and I just couldn't catch a break. I looked at news around the world and I couldn't find anything interesting or even thought provoking for me. I tried to think about news in Cameron and, sorry to say, couldn't come up with much. I even tried writing about a teacher at our school and was just about finished with my article when I found out I couldn't single out a teacher in one of my articles because it may look bad if written wrong.  The article was going to be about a teacher whose class was one of the better ones I had been through. I was going to do nothing but praise this teacher and I was told I couldn't. Needless to say I was a little upset. I'm an editor for the school paper. Why can't I write about what I want to write about? It just didn't make sense to me, I didn't see where I was going to go wrong in praising a spectacular teacher.

After school was over that day, and I had cooled down a little, I thought about it for just a bit. I still don't understand why it would be such a big deal to write about one teacher, but the fact of the matter is it really isn't my place to make that call. I'm not the one in charge of this school district and its appearance. As much as it upsets me sometimes, I am willing to admit I probably lack the ability to run an entire school. I barely know all of the clubs at CHS, much less what should done to keep the school's best interests in mind. At this point in time I'm not in the position to make those kind of decisions, so really the only thing I can do is do my best to accept the ones made. After all, the best way to learn how to lead is to first follow.

There are of course things I would change about this school, but the best part about it is even without those changes I still love CHS. Not to say I know what every school in all eternity is or was like but I have attended a fairly wide spectrum as far as the size and quality of school are concerned. With this knowledge I can still whole hearted say this school is a wonderful and safe learning environment for the students who attend, and I would do nothing to change that view. We have a great staff of teachers who do their jobs well and take time to actually know their students. The worst drama I have seen at CHS is an everyday occurrence at several other schools. I may even go as far as to say I might miss this place just a little bit when I graduate. I know, tear right?

So there are some things that make my blood pressure rise just a little bit and send my home wanting to over throw the school.....just kidding. I do want to changes some minor things, but I do love this school, and I do know that if I really want to make change I'll just have to wait my turn.
