The Patriotic Concert is back for another year of tradition. On November 26, the Cameron High School Choir, Chorus, and Band will come together once again to honor our country and our school. Sadly, the only part of this tradition will be missing is Mrs. Goodwin. Mrs. Goodwin has taught here and was the Choir's accompanist for many years and retired last year. We will miss her this year! Another important note to make in your calendar is a new starting time of 9:00am. This is an hour earlier than historically due to changes in the school's early release schedule.

What is the Patriotic Concert? Choir director Mr. Von Glahn describes it as, "Basically a lot of different patriotic songs that all have to do with the history of our country." The show is a mixture of the High School Chorus, Choir, and Band.

The Chorus and Choir pull double-duty this time of year. "We practice for this concert and our winter concert at the same time, so we are learning close to 15 songs at the same time," stated Mr. Von Glahn. It is sure to be jam packed full of all the best of the best songs that we all love and remember.

No solos are performed during this concert, but there are a lot of pieces anything from "Battle Hymn of the Republic, America, [and also] God Bless America. [We perform] all kinds of typical American Folk Songs," according to Mr Von Glahn. "There will be no changes made to the concert except Mrs. Goodwin can't play with us this year," he pointed out. It will be held in the same tradition as when it started 20 years ago!"

Molly Long is looking forward to taking a break from conducting and joining her band in playing her instrument the flute. "I only conduct the Marching Band, which is parades and field performances. Every year the band plays while the choir sings to the Battle Hymn of the Republic and Oh God, Our Help in Ages Past." These are the traditional songs of this concert.

This year, like the past years, the guest speaker will be Jay Way who will do the narration part. With the concert being only about 45 minute to an hour long, so you can imagine that it just moves right along

So put on your red , white and blue and join CHS for its annual Patriotic Concert on November 26 at 9:00am and share in another year of tradition here in Cameron.
