Some of you people are probably thinking, what is Gold Card? For those of you that don't already know, Gold Card has been a program that has been around for awhile now. Only certain students can qualify for it. If you make Gold Card, you get to go on a reward trip of some sort. The trips change each year. For 1st quarter this year, 5th and 6th graders went to Chuckie Cheese. The 7th and 8th graders went to Power Play Arcade.

Assistant Principal Mr. Albright explained, "There is a Gold Card after each quarter, so there are 4 Gold Cards a year. For any of the CMS students to qualify they have to have all B's or better, no exceptions. I'm in charge of making sure that there are no late papers, no detentions, or office referrals. Those few things also determine whether some students qualify. The CMS teachers also help me out with keeping that sort of stuff on track. The students who qualified this 1st quarter have proven they deserved to go on this trip because they followed all of the rules."

Sixth Grader Kelsey Swinderman said, "My parents always tell me to get good grades because they've been there and done that and they know what kinds of things could happen. I want to have a great future and I know that starting here would majorly help me out in the long run. I mean your grades really do have an impact on your future."

Eighth Grader, Tori Naylor explained, "All the people that make Gold Card in my class always get so excited. It's something fun that everyone in our grade enjoys and it's nice to get a day off from school."

Tori explained some more, "I'm very proud of myself, because I'm making good grades and pushing myself, knowing that it will help me out in the future and I get rewarded to top it off. It is a great privilege. I think that all CMS students should try their hardest in school, even though it isn't easy at some times."

Mr. Albright said, "I'm so proud of all the students that made Gold Card this 1st quarter. Overall there was about 200 kids that made it. That is awesome! I mean that is 35% maybe even 40% of our school!"

So if you want to make a Gold Card, strive to reach your goals and keep those grades up and you will be satisfied and it will make a good impact on your future. So parents motivate your child/children to keep their grades up so they too can go on a Gold Card trip next quarter!
