To Edward Egglaston, “Journalism is organized gossip.”
I agree with him because, journalism is information that people want to desperately be informed of. They want to be the first to know what is going to happen next. All we do is organize it into something that gives you just that.
We, the staff of the Spartan Chronicles, make it special by actually giving you what you want to read. We also make sure that it’s something that will hook you when you read the title. Not only that, but we like to satisfy you by giving you what you expect of us, and we make sure of it.
My experience as a journalist on the Spartan Chronicles news staff was amazing! I came in only knowing how to write a one-hundred word essay. Now, I know to how to challenge myself to give it all my best and still more. i know that it’s up to me to let people know what’s going on , what’s new, and what is still to come.
I found out that there is more than writing what you know; you have to have the whole puzzle together. You need the informers, quotes and opinions of what people have to say about the topic. That is what makes a good article. Another thing that I learned is that you need to be organized. If it wasn’t for that, you wouldn’t be able to read any of my articles. In my opinion, we need all of these pieces to understand the puzzle. Thus, these are just a few things that I’ve learned while being part of a staff of the Spartan Chronicles.
I know that there is still more to be learned. I’ll make sure to come back and get better at what I need to improve and give you what you deserve as a reader --a great article that makes you want to know what’s next.
If it weren't for Ms. Aughey, I would still just only know how to write a one-hundred word essay. I am very thankful for what she has taught me, and teaching me how to be a good journalist.
