Senior Lamar Caselberry wins the Golden Glove Medal for Georgia Games - Spartan Chronicles Staff

Campbell High seniors Lamar Caselberry and Jalysa Forest both box competitively.

Caselberry, from Michigan, is an upcoming Golden Glove boxer who lives and breathes to box. He wakes up every morning ready to pulverize his next victim.

Caselberry found boxing which helped him stop fighting outside of the ring. He started out early getting into street fights and destroying his victims. He soon realized that he had never lost a fight and that he had the potential to take his skills to the next level. Caselberry considered boxing. Now Lamar has been boxing for about a year in Atlanta, GA. He is currently training at H3 Sports and has won a Golden Gloves championship.

“My deadly combination is a jab and a straight hook to demolish my opponents,” said Casselberry.

Jalysa Forest has an extraordinary story to tell. She was the first, and the youngest girl in her family, to take on boxing as a hobby.

Most of the older male figures in her family were boxers. As a result, Forest began thumping her way up the ranking list in Washington, DC ever since she was four years old. Later in Forest’s life, she decided to step it up and box competitively. Forest was required to license her hands in order to do so. As a result, she would not be permitted to fight in the streets only in the ring. She has earned an outstanding fighting record of 24 wins and 4 losses.

Preveoulsy she trained, sparred, and banged heads at Head Bangers in DC but since she moved to the Atlanta area,  she has been in search for another gym that she feels meets and exceeds her standards for a boxing gym.

“Just because you lost doesn’t make you a loser,' said Forest when asked about her personal motto.
