For many, concert choir is the beginning of a love of singing. Concert choir is the beginning choir for all high school students, and several seniors are among its members. Brandi Hurst, Evelyn Knight, John McClain, Melanie Young, and Evelyn Knight make up the seniors in the concert choir. Being in concert choir marks the beginning of these students’ high school singing careers, and though this is their last year, they still have lots of time to exercise their vocal chords. A love of music and singing is what has caused these students to join choir, but there are challenges to being a member. Learning terminology and technique are among the difficulties that these members face. Practice is an everyday event for these students, and there is much time and energy put into rehearsing for concerts. Some also sing outside of choir, such as in their churches. Just as they enjoy different kinds of music, they also sing many different parts, which contribute to the whole. Melanie, Brandi, and Evelyn sing alto, John sings tenor, and Lee sings bass. Whether these students have had experience with singing before high school or this is their first time, they all have a love of music that will continue after they graduate and long into the future.
