Fashion Show Truly `Touch of Class'

The 2nd Annual SGA Homecoming Fashion Show, lived up to its billing as a ``Touch of Class.''

In the opening scene, titled “A Black Affair,'' each model stood on risers to the refreshing tunes of singer/songwriter Janelle Monae’s ``Letting Go.''

The models were dressed in all black with elegantly-applied and tasteful make-up that could stand out in the darkest room and turn the most reluctant of heads.

In the end, three ladies remained: Ashley Winfield, Michaela Adams and Nicole Lee.

The audience went wild after just being teased with the first scene, not knowing what else was in store. Students were surprised that the same people they joke around with in class and in the hallways could be so serious on the stage.

The ladies of the evening were fierce and confident as they strutted down the runway like they owned it. The show incorporated their personal style, but required them to work together to create a spectacular event to witness.

Scene two also didn't disappoint, taking on a city vibe with ``Urban Street.''

Juniors Margarett Moore and Kendall Leslie were a stunning pair. When Leslie walked across the stage and posed with a magazine in hand and began to make an exit, Moore, with an apple in one hand, snatched the magazine from Leslie’s hand with the other and tossed it with attitude into the air, sending the audience into a screaming frenzy.

And what would a fashion show be without Mays' most popular attire, Polo Ralph Lauren. This segment reflected how students work the “dress code” with a stylish sensation, adding “swagger'' to an otherwise conservative required wardrobe.

The show even went into the jungle with an ``Animal Print'' scene in which the models showed their inner animal, with Keshunta Jinks actually sporting spots to totally immerse herself in the moment to bring a roar out the crowd.

Going back in time was what the next scene, ``Flashback,'' was all about as the models took the crowd on a time machine of fashion giving insight into what was hot with teachers and parents in the 80’s and 90’s.

As the night came to an end with “A Touch of Class,'' each model entered formally dressed as if for a ball or an elegant event.

Overall, this show was a complete success as it mastered all components and different aspects that makes a fashion show entertaining. It was well-organized and was defiantly worth every penny of the admissions price.
