On March 3, Jazz I and II Ensembles will be hosting their second annual formal dinner and jazz band concert at The Andora Restaurant.

The dinner event is being called an “Eat and Listen” but dancing is welcome. The restaurant is located at 1112 on Route 41 in Schererville.

The Jazz I and II groups have been practicing several times a week since mid-November. Each group rehearses separately for 90 minutes at a time after school.

“Practices and rehearsals are the main thing, and we have shows between now and the dinner,” junior Adam Turman said.

Students from all four grades who are in either of the jazz groups will be performing.

Turman has been in jazz groups for the past two years as well as a lead alto sax for the past six years.

“We try to cover a range of styles and tempos so everyone can enjoy a little something in the show. Jazz is a good music style for after dinner entertainment” band director Mr.Chris Harmon said.

All proceeds benefit the Boosters Scholarship Program and Capital Fund. The proceeds will also go to all other aspects of the band, as they do not receive much from school funding.

Doors to the event will open at 6:30 p.m., and dinner will be served promptly at 7 p.m. A two-hour concert will follow dinner. A silent auction will take place simultaneously during the night.

Guests may purchase single tickets at the price of $30 or purchase an entire table, which seats eight guests, for the price of $210. More information about purchasing tickets can be obtained by contacting John Sanchez at 219-365-7169 or Scott Smith at 219-365-2658

Tickets should be purchased on or before Feb. 25 as they will not be available for purchase at the door.
