Indiana goes to the polls to vote in the primaries for both parties to help determine who the parties will nominate as their presidential candidate. Indiana is one of the final states to hold a primary, but because of the huge contest within the Democratic Party, the votes will be substantial.

August 25-28, 2008

The Democratic Party will hold their national convention in Denver, Colo. At this time, it will be determined to whom the Democratic presidential nomination will be awarded. This convention will be particularly interesting because it will be decided here if the primary votes of Florida and Michigan will be counted.

September 1-4, 2008

The Republican National Convention will be held in St. Paul, Minn. They will nominate their presidential candidate, which will most likely be Senator John McCain from Arizona.

November 4, 2008

The voters of the United States will elect a Commander-in-Chief for the 56th time since the founding of the nation. The winner will (most likely) be a selected member of the Republican or Democratic Party.

December 14, 2008

The members of the Electoral College meet in each state to vote for their choice for the president and vice president candidates.

January 20, 2009

The newly elected president will be sworn into office and begin his or her active presidency.
