Are you looking for some place to get scared silly?  Do you want to get primed for Halloween in a fun, thrilling, and outdoorsy way?  Well, we’ve got the place for you.

In a little cornfield outside of Lancaster, PA, all of your wishes will be fulfilled.  Field of Scream offers a wide variety of terrifying encounters.  Go and attempt to survive the three horrifying attractions.

There are three levels of scaring there, from a little fright to “pee your pants” fright. If you are a person who wants to get a load of the action but you don’t want to be inside of it, the Haunted Hayride is the attraction for you.

This extensive 20-minute ride in fluffy hay will get you anxious quickly. The tractor-pulled flatbed drives you through a variety of different settings, including a butchery, a carnival tent, and a toxic waste dump. The one place where you have to lift your head up is in the science experiment scene which includes one of the World’s Largest Tesla Coils, which generates about 3 ½ million volts of electricity. This will probably be the most interesting haunted hayride ever.

If this hayride wasn’t scary enough, then the next most terrifying attraction had to be the Den of Darkness.

What makes this more scary than the hayride had to be the thought of actually having to walk through the attraction single file, not sitting with 20 other people. This three-story scare fest includes two terrifying doctors experimenting on unlucky patients, a disgusting kitchen, and a crawl through a cramped crawlspace. And once you think you got through it all, you are screaming at the top of your lungs, running from a man with a chainsaw. So if you could take the hayride and still want a little more, this is the attraction for you.

And if you are still able to want more after both of these terrifying experiences, then the Frightmare Asylum is the most frightening of the frights.

This terrifying attraction is the most scary because of its frightening illusions that you cannot explain and its interesting characters. This demented institution includes a room full of nurses from Silent Hill, an entire section of the four-story building just for disturbing clown characters, and a checkered room where a checkered-painted man with a chainsaw inhabits while a strobe light blinks on and off. This is a terrible combination that will scare you to death. And once again, a man with a chainsaw greets you at the exit in his own demented way.

So if you have an itching desire to be scared this fall, Field of Screams is the place for you. Whether you are a scaredy cat or a daredevil, this place has a kind of scary for everyone.  There's plenty of parking, food stands, and games as well.

Still open through the first weekend in November, Field of Screams costs $27 for a Scream Pass which allows you into all three attractions.  VIP passes and group discounts are also available.  It’s located a little over one hour away, across the PA line.  See
