Many students have been inducted into an assortment of special societies that honor an individual’s academic success.

Justin Berg was named the Jonah Edward Kelley Award winner for 2007. Jason Lambka, and Trevor Haines were the other nominees.

During the ceremony The three announced that they would split the $6,000 scholarship between them.

Gina Corley was the winner of the Katharine Church award.

Shenandoah Green, and Amber Bowman were also nominated. Requirements for Church nominees are that each candidate must have played a sport and obtained an overall G.P.A of 4.0. Nominees must also exemplify the same qualities as Katherine Church.

Corley accepted a five hundred dollar scholarship. The other two nominees received scholarships for $250 each.

Keyser High Academic Honor Society inducted 31 members: seniors Stephanie Boden, Felicia Gano, Juliana Gustafson, Robert Hamilton, Candace Lewis, Susan Reed, and Elizabeth Staggers;

Juniors Corey Brill, Nikki Cannon, Jennie Clark, Devin Diehl, Andrew Gilbert, Raquell Hanlin, Tyler Hartman, Ian Heare;

Megan Hott, Matthew Idleman, Luke King, Jessica Liller, Tyler Logsdon, Blake Mangold, Shannon Paugh;

Kourtni Roby, Tyler Rohrbaugh, Lindsey Sutherland, Ashley Twigg, Eric Walker, Tiana Warner, Katelynn Weber, Elva Whetzel and Kathryn Wood.

The ceremony was held in the KHS theater and was coordinated by Honor Society sponsor Ann Stuck.

Quill and Scroll also held its induction under the sponsorship of Journalism head Lou Robertson.

Thirteen students were inducted: seniors Michelle King, Carly Williams, Chelsea Harman, Gina Corley, Katie Mock, and Elizabeth Staggers;

Juniors Nikki Cannon, Katie Wood, Jordan Smith, Nikki Whitlock, Brooke Raines, Lucas Carr and Corey Brill.

The high school has participated in the nationally recognized society since 1941.

Mu Alph Theta honorary will hold its ceremony in May.
