“They’ve worked very hard,” Ms. Amy Czarnowski said about her two Dance 1 classes and her Dance 2 class. Her students participated this January 16 in “So You Think You Can Dance,” the recital that counted as their final exam grade.
Of the ten dances performed, Czarnowski arranged all of the choreography, except for the last two dances. “Closer” was the creation of her Dance 2 class and “Just Dance” was choreographed and performed by all the classes.
Ms. Czarnowski made no distinctions between her classes and believed that “they are all different” and that’s why she mixed all of them up to get the best out of each dancer. The result was in the recital.
The audience had a pretty awesome response when B Period performed “Untouched,” which was one of the best performances of the night.
In my opinion, some of the students that shined the most on the dance floor were Amy Prudencio, Tania Baez, Your’Majesty Gilmore, Icauri Mejia, and Juan Carlos Sanchez. Even though some of them messed up in some of the dances they knew how to catch up and cover for it so the dance would still look fabulous, as one of the students did in “Dreaming With A Broken Heart.” This year’s recital was another full-house show, as many people were impressed by the performances including myself. Stay tuned and wait for the Spring Recital this coming May.
