Kazaa has been around for a long, long time. Its reign has lasted longer than the original Napster did.

But with all the law suits circling Kazaa, is it really a safe program to use?

Recently a search brought a new multimedia-sharing program to my desktop. It’s called Winmx. It varies a little bit from Kazza but not much.

Its Ms-Dos style display may not be attractive but saves a lot of memory compared to the interchangeable skins Kazza had. The program is a little hard to catch onto at the beginning, and the buttons have different names and locations, but all the abilities are still there.

Compared to previous programs the amount of shared files a.k.a downloadable files is less, but that’s due to the much smaller group of people. Once Winmx reaches Kazaa’s amazing population of 2.1 million users the database will be huge.

The program also allows a bit of customization. If you don’t ever watch videos or download software can simply choose to have just the music section.
