The girls of the Arrowhead high school lacrosse team snagged their second state title on June 3^rd, 2011 at the UW Whitewater stadium. This being the first official year that the Girl’s Lacrosse team was fully funded by Arrowhead High school, it was no secret that Arrowhead had something to prove.

There was no trouble in doing this because of their nearly undefeated record and “All-state” members including:  Mikayla Henry, Hannah Bird, and Allie Jorgenson. Of course, it was their teamwork and determination throughout the entire season that raised this unstoppable team to victory. The Varsity Arrowhead coaches, Tom Truttschel and Lee Bromberger couldn’t have been happier seeing all of their hard work pay off.

The members of this team included: Sara Hopkins, Madie Berg, Ashlee Barwick, Mikayla Henry, Maggie Schoenecker, Anna Stawicki , Allie Jorgensen , Autumn Horwath, Mariah Wnuk, Katherine Roznik, Laurel Weimar, Mia Lichte, Keersi Monrieve Edwards, Erin Mortensen, Rachel Schmidt, Bridget Herrick, Hannah Bird, Kailey Robbins, Rachel Martell, and Alexandra Filmanowicz.

               
Junior, Erin Mortenson was as ecstatic as could be after walking away with a victory. This was her first year experiencing the Varsity team, and no complaints were made. After the game ended, Erin justified their victory. “I just think that we all really pulled together as a team to win this, it was perfect because we all have our own strengths and we all worked together with these strengths well enough to use them to our advantage.”
 
In the end, the Arrowhead Girls defeated their rivals, Verona with an overwhelming final score of 9 to 3. All of the after school practices allegedly filled with running and repeated drills were finally worth it in the end when they were able to walk away with the state championship trophy.
