On Tuesday, October 26^th, the Arrowhead Warhawks played the Sun Prairie Cardinals in the first round of the WIAA Division 1 football playoffs.  Arrowhead controlled all aspects of the game, winning by a score of 35-0.

Sun Prairie entered the game as the number two team in the state, but they did not receive a seed in the playoffs.  Arrowhead, a two seed, came in the number four team in the state.

In the swirling winds, the Arrowhead defense shut down Sun Prairie’s high powered offense, as the racked up just over 120 total yards.  Senior linebackers Derek Landisch and Shane Hughes controlled the line of scrimmage for the Warhawks, and both players recovered fumbles.

Running backs Colton Sweitzer, senior, and Jamahl Wright, junior, each ran for over 100 yards in the game.  Sweitzer scored three touchdowns and Wright scored two.

The running game for the Warhawks provided more than enough scoring, as the only pass thrown in the game by junior quarterback Ryan Saeger was intercepted to end the first half.

Arrowhead hosts Classic 8 rival Waukesha West on Saturday, October 30 at 4 P.M.  Arrowhead won the regular season matchup 10-7.  The Wolverines beat the Verona Wildcats 30-13 on Tuesday night.

“West is a real good team,” said senior Jordy Pendergast.  “We beat them in the playoffs last year, and this season, so they will come out with a grudge.  It will be a great game.”
