Arrowhead’s boys wrestling team took 2nd place at the Oconomowoc Duals Tournament Saturday, December 12th.

“We did well,” said Head Coach John Mesenbrink. “ Some weaknesses were exposed, and we learned what needs to be worked on. The younger guys on the team really stepped up.”

Arrowhead beat Milwaukee Custer, Janesville Craig, Wilmot, and West Allis Hale, and lost to Wisconsin Rapids. Other teams they placed ahead of were Oconomowoc and Nicolet.

Max Askren led the team with five wins. Askren said he and his teammates dominated their matches.

“The year looks very good,” said Mesenbrink. “We hope to go to team State for the first time in school history.”

The boys also won 50-22 in a dual match against Waukesha North on Thursday, December 4th.

“If we all stay healthy we will do well,” said Kyle Hazelwood. “A lot of teams will be surprised.”
