            The Falcon indoor track season concluded on Feb. 27 at the state meet at Liberty University. The team sent 13 players to the meet.

            “I was very pleased with the number of people we sent to states,”  head coach Quentin Jones said.

            Seniors Ariel Porter, Hannah Helsel, Joseph Burnett, Kyle Fortney, Ryan Grandberry, Garrett Walker, Dante Zimmerman, and Alex Pinelli, juniors Emma Helsel, Estaban Corona, and Dan Elmore, and sophomores Shantel Jones and Tyler Hale were all included in the state meet.

“Sending so many people to states for winter track is great,” said senior Joseph Burnett. “It will give our spring track team a lot of confidence, too.

The Falcons placed at states four events. Burnett, Elmore, Grandberry, and Zimmerman finished eighth in the 4x4 relay. Burnett finished fourth in the 55 hurdle, Elmore finished eighth in the 500 meter dash, and Emma Helsel finished eighth in the 1600 meter.

             “It was a very successful meet for us,” Jones said. “We may not have been where we wanted on the board, but we were successful. For example Tyler Hale ran his best mile time yet, and he did it at the state meet. You cannot ask for more than that.”
