Many tears will be expected among the many faces of students as they say goodbye to the COOP kids on May 13.
The preschool kids will be having a water day with activities such as water balloon toss, watermelon eating contest and a leaky can race. Senior Jessica Turley is excited to be with them as a COOP teacher.
“They get to enjoy themselves. They get to have fun,” Turley said.
Earlier this week, the kids even had a graduation on Wednesday, May 11. Their parents were able to enjoy seeing their kids perform songs and dance. COOP and Child Development teacher Gail Svor was so proud.
“The best part was feeling a sense of pride from the kids through the beginning and end and seeing what they learned,” Svor said.
Senior Madison Squire will miss being around the COOP kids and had a great opportunity this year to be their teacher as well.
“I think their different personalities (will be missed), and they’re all so different and funny,” Squire said.
Svor is happy in being able to see the kids develop in areas emotionally, physically, and intellectually. She will definitely miss them.
“We’ll miss their unique special personalities and they put a smile on their faces every day,” Svor said.
On graduation, the COOP sang “Next Year” which included lyrics of “I’ve learned a whole lot. / I’ve much bigger now. /I know how to listen. /Oh wow! / I’m going to kindergarten next year.”
