Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under age 21 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. They meet a unique need for children by using donated hair to create the highest quality hair prosthetics. Most of the children helped by Locks of Love have lost their hair due to a medical condition called alopecia areata, which has no known cause or cure. The prostheses they provide help to restore their self-esteem and their confidence, enabling them to face the world and their peers.

The Leadership Class was given full rein in the last quarter of school to do a project of their choosing. This led Cassidie Smith, Molly Cappiello, Missy Peck and Heather Boothe to organize their own event for Locks of Love. They have decided upon holding it at Studio 2000 on Main Street in Canandaigua owned by Alison Fuller. "Cancer and other diseases which cause hair loss touch everyone’s lives in one way or another. We just wanted to contribute to something bigger than ourselves," says Cassidie Smith, group leader. This event is to be held on June 2^nd. Anyone who has 10 inches or more of unbleached and not permed hair or even anyone with a couple extra bucks in their pockets should come down on this date and donate from 1 PM to 3 PM in the afternoon.
