The Marcus Whitman Visual and Performing Arts’ production of Beauty and the Beast debuted on the Whitman stage March 16^th, 17^th and 18^th. It was a huge hit, and as an added bonus to the show, the Drama Club Boosters organized a Beauty and the Beast brunch before Sunday’s matinee performance. People who attended the brunch had the opportunity to meet the characters, get their pictures and autographs and enjoy a delicious meal prepared by Sylvia Chase and the Drama Club Boosters.

Featured items on the menu were things like: fresh fruit, bagels, french toast, pancakes, bacon, sausage, mini pigs in a blanket, mac and cheese, as well as an assortment of baked goods. There were many activities and contests throughout the morning including a coloring contest, pin the clock hands on Cogsworth, and a teacup game. There were also many trivia contests which gave the contestants a chance to win a Disney related prize. There were some attendees that dressed up like Belle, or other princess dresses.

All the main characters were at the brunch including the Beast, Belle, Mrs. Potts, Chip, Lumiere, Cogsworth, Madame De La Grande Bouche (the wardrobe), Babette and Gaston. Children got to have their pictures taken with them, and some lucky girls had the opportunity to dance with the Beast! Caitlyn Bailey (Belle) says, "Amy [Ekdahl] danced with Jacob (Beast) and it was the cutest thing I’ve ever seen! All these little girls were dressed up like Belle and so excited to see us, which was pretty awesome."
