On October 15, 2011 the Homecoming Dance was the absolute perfect finish for such an eventful week for the entire high school. From 7:30 – 11:00pm about three hundred students were in our own high school gymnasium dancing and having the time of their lives.

The Homecoming Dance was entirely a success for this year’s Leadership class. After preparing for three weeks prior to the dance, they delivered happiness and a night filled with fun for many students. After interviewing Cara Gopen, a senior, she said that overall the dance was definitely the best one out of the four she has attended. The DJ who was at the dance was from Finger Lakes Entertainment. Although we’ve had them DJ the past dances, the package that was bought was an upgrade from last year. Gopen stated that, "the DJ had great transitions between songs. There were no gaps between songs so you didn’t have to stop dancing. Also, the perimeter lighting really added a ‘Wow Factor’ and made it feel less like a gymnasium."

Students from the Leadership class went to the school earlier in the day to decorate for the dance that night. Gopen thought the decorations were just enough to disguise the gym. Also, the advertising for the dance was great, Gopen said. When she was asked "was the advertising used enough to catch student’s attention?" She replied "the awesome banner that Mary Leet and Casey Dean made caught everyone’s attention. The drawings around the edges made people stop and look at the banner." This made Gopen really start to look forward to the dance.

Finally, when Gopen was asked what recommendations she had for the future Leadership class and what her overall favorite part was of the dance, she replied, "keep up the good work!" and "my favorite part was dancing…duh".
