To many of the girls at Whitman, spring means one thing, softball. Our Marcus Whitman girls softball team has begun their practices and will soon start their games. There are roughly 14 girls on the team. The team consists of a mixture of seniors and juniors and a few underclassmen. Their first practice was March 8^th and their first game is on April 5^th against Waterloo. They are also, for the first time, going to participate in the Mudville Tournament in Herkimer, New York over spring break. The tournament is a breast cancer benefit.

When Coach Morley was asked what his biggest challenge will be this season he responded, "My challenge will be to turn these young atheletes into softball players." He mentioned how new players, more often than not, pick up very quickly on the game. They not only have to learn the rules and regulations of the high school sport, but also how to work as a team and most of all have a good time. Mr. Morley was asked what his expectations are for the season and he answered, "We aim to continue on improving our players and to always keep our competitive edge."

The coaching staff includes head coach Mr. Morley, Mr. Pete Clabeaux, Mr. Brady Rouse who works with the pitchers, and Ms. Andrea Wisner. This should be a good season for the girls’ team. Please come support your Whitman Girls Softball team this season.
