We all know Jeff Eckert from the many sports teams he’s coached. Over the past three years he gained huge responsibility by being part of the Board of Education. The Board of Education is a group of people in charge of local public schools. They decide on policies that will be beneficial toward the district. It requires a lot of understanding of what’s going on and it’s a lot of effort if the school has issues to be worked out.

In the beginning, Mr. Eckert started out, and is currently, coaching basketball. He was very involved with a lot of sports and engaged in the students’ education. Jeff Eckert gained a fulfilled feeling when he coached children. He became interested in the direction of the school and was concerned about the students’ happiness; thus, wanting to be a part of the Board of Education.

"It requires a lot of ready and understanding of what’s going on," he says. Before anything goes to the newspaper, the Board has to be informed. They decide who to fire or hire and they approve spending operations. The members get an update from Mr. Chirco about big events happening and are informed of any changes. Jeff Eckert has certainly done a fantastic job with contributing towards the school’s benefit. He has made a positive effect on the district. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication.
