Forget the 2004 remakes starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, the 1973 is the true, original and best version of Walking Tall.  Walking Tall features harsh brutality, memorable fight scenes and a shocking true story that has been realistically recaptured in a brilliant film that is heaven for fans of the action genre.  Whether you liked the remake or not, the original one is the version to watch, at all costs. 
   Starring Joe Don Baker as the role of Buford Pusser, as the man who has been pushed so far that he is going to push back with everything he has to clean up his town and get some good, old fashioned brutal vengeance.  Based on a true story, Walking Tall tells the story of a man who has retired from wrestling, tired of the mindless violence and hoping to settle down in his old hometown and raise his family only to be attack and left for dead.  After just barely surviving, Buford strikes back only to be arrested for his act of eye for an eye.  After being found innocent by a jury of his peers, Buford runs for sheriff to clean up his town and continue in getting payback.
   This gritty, brutal and realistic film is one not to be missed, especially for action junkies, like myself.  Consider this recommendation a guarantee that you are in for an amazing movie that will not disappoint.  Run, don’t walk, to buy this movie and find out first hand that remakes almost never recapture the brilliance of the original.
