empt to reboot the infamous slasher series takes us back to Crystal Lake. Starting with a group of teenagers hiking through the woods searching for a marijuana crop, it doesn’t take long before Jason starts picking them off in a violent manner. Six weeks after these incidents, another group of sex crazed partying teens arrive. We are also introduced to the main protagonist, Clay Miller, who is searching for his missing sister who was with the first group that fell prey to Jason. In this reboot of the series, Jason does what he does best, go on a bloody rampage.

Directed by Marcus Nispel, director of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake, Friday the 13th remains faithful to its predecessors and carries the same themes of

sex, drugs and creative, bloody death scenes. After being in space, facing off against a fellow deranged murderer and being sent to hell, Jason is finally back to familiar territory. Like the originals, the new version includes the tense moments and scares fans of the series have come to love. While this movie is not for everyone, it is perfect for its target audience, who are fans of the slasher films. Fans of the original will not be disappointed and will be very satisfied by seeing the best Jason featured in the series. No longer is he the stalker who walks behind his fleeing victims while they run away and he miraculously catches up to them, he is even more frightening now that he is a powerful and faster Jason.

In the increasing amounts of unoriginal films and constant remakes, Friday the 13th stands out as one of the better ones. Considering how good this one is, hopefully they continue to make more sequels.
