When school comes to mind, many think it’s the last place they would like to be, but for one Marcus Whitman staff member, coming back to school couldn’t come fast enough!

As most know, Mrs. Ferguson left during October for cancer treatments. A benefit dinner was held in her honor, cards, thoughts and prayers were sent her way and they were all greatly appreciated. Finally, our favorite study hall and lounge monitor is back and she is happy to be here.

"When coming back to school I was looking forward to seeing the kids. I missed them- as crazy as it sounds. Since I’ve been back, things have been totally awesome!" As to her prognosis, Ferguson said, "The cancer seems to be shrinking, and there isn’t any new cancer, so the overall prognosis is good. I am keeping a positive attitude, It’s the best thing I can do."

I asked Mrs. Ferguson what her favorite and least favorite part about her job was and she responded, "Having to get up at 4:30 in the morning is my least favorite, that’s the hard part but bring back in school with the students and my co-workers and getting back into a routine is my reward! I guess I’m a people person!"

Cancer is a human plague took 7.6 million lives last year alone. This brave and determined woman left us with cancer and came back healthier and just as strong!
