On October 5, 2007, the band, The Noise, On Vinyl, performed at the Marcus Whitman’s bonfire after the homecoming game. The band involves Atom Macumber, Ben Corey, Chris Buchar, and Marcus Whitman’s own, Cody Earl.

The idea of starting a band took place when some of the members were eating at a local McDonald’s. The Noise, On Vinyl was born in the year of 2004 during the Battle of the Bands, but wasn’t named yet. The members of the band used many techniques to think of a band name. For example, they babbled like manics and group meditation. Then, Atom was lying in bed and it just hit him like a ton of bricks.

The band was settled with everything, but it came with a halting screech when a former band member left. The band was bassless for a while, and they held auditions for a new bassist. Many have come and gone. Finally, Cody auditioned for the part, and he got it.

The songs that they performed are brainstormed by the whole band and not just one single person. When it was their first performance in front of a live audience they said that was insane and nerve racking and it was like the movies with the bright lights and the cheering of the crowd. Since Cody had joined the band, he is like their “chill pill,” which means when everyone is real tense before a performance, Cody tells that them to cool down and relax.

As the band, The Noise, On Vinyl, practices for their performances, they give the student body and many others the inspiration to achieve their goals and their dreams.
