On March 23rd Head track Coach Mr. Wood announced to the team his resignation as head coach.

After 20 years of being head coach for the track team, Coach Wood decided to step back from his position, “There’s lots of reasons. I need to do something for professional growth and spend some time with my family and just kind of step back, take a deep breath, and relax for a season,” says former Head Coach Wood.

Coach Wood still plans to still help the team next year and probably be an assistant coach. “I’m sorry to see Mr. Wood go because he is very dedicated. I’m also anxious to see who the new coach is going to be,” says Varsity distance runner Kelsey Croall (11), “I hope it is someone who is up for the job.”

“I was really surprised , I was expecting him to be around because I knew he had been coaching for a long time,” says varsity distance runner Emily Goyings (11), “I’ll miss Coach Wood because he is very patient.”

“I’ve really enjoyed being head coach for 20 years. Every season’s been a great experience. The athletes and parents have been wonderful to work with and we had tremendous support from the “Old Guys” from Sun City who helped us put on all the home meets.”

Although his former team will miss him dearly, he will still be around campus to help anyone who ask for help.
