The 2005 Tennis Team is getting set for another year, but this year will be different from the past.
Why do you ask? Well for one the team does not have any tennis courts; they are currently under construction, and by under construction that is an understatement because the courts are being murdered, hopefully they will be completed by the time season starts. All the team can do now is just wait and plead for court space at Lincoln Hills.
However, on the bright side, playing at Lincoln Hills would be completely awesome, but it would also be nice to play on brand new tennis courts at home though. Another thing is that the team might have to cut down on how many players they let on the team maybe twenty or less. Why do you ask? Well bus space is very limited this year due to riding with other teams, so little bus space means little team.
The good thing of fewer players is that maybe the team can afford brand new uniforms and team bags. A positive fact of having new uniforms is that Lincoln would look first-rate, professional, and stunning, also a factor in winning is intimidation and matching uniforms is intimidating because if the team looks like a circus you will looked down upon and that’s not good.
The 2005 tennis team will be having return players such as seniors Shawn Morgan, Michael Culbertson, Ben Roe, Charles Hauff, Heather Campbell, Katrina Haynie, and Daniel Bietz. With this line-up of young amazing senior players the team is bound to do well. “Our guys will go far this year, they look promising,” said Senior Charles Hauff.
The hope’s and goals this year are to get to sections again but this time win the whole gosh darn thing. The team wants to make our town proud of our “up and coming” tennis program.
Well in my assessment the team will need to practice hard, give 100% at the matches and show everyone they can win, and they can. It will be a challenge having no courts but I really don’t think a little thing like that will stop these Fighting Zebra’s.
For some of the seniors this may be the last year playing tennis forever or maybe some of them will go on to college, but one fact is that they all have goals for this upcoming season, and that goal is going to sections. Every team probably has that goal but they will just have to want it more and I think they do, they have the drive and heart to do it.
So to all of the seniors playing I hope you have a great season.
