America’s favorite pastime comes at a mental and physical price. For sophomore Eric LePage, this pastime has been a part of his life for a long time. LePage said he started playing baseball when he was seven years old.
“I started playing with friends then got into an organized league,” he said. “I just stayed with it.”
His positions are outfield and pitcher. LePage said he prefers the simpler aspects of the game.
“I like the games, being with friends and having fun,” he said. “I just want to help the team out as much as I can and support them all the way,” he said.
Sophomore Austin Appleby said that LePage is a good teammate with a great sense of humor.
“He’s downright hilarious and easy to get along with,” he said. “He doesn’t get down on himself and is there to pick people up when they are.”
All sports have certain challenges, and LePage said he has one small concern for this season.
“Playing for varsity will be a challenge but I’m going to try my hardest,” he said.
Appleby said that LePage has improved over the years.
“He has gotten a lot better at hitting, and has grown to become a better pitcher as well,” he said.
LePage said focusing on the competitiveness of the Federal League is another personal goal.
As for team goals, he said he has a lot in mind and has a lot of of faith in his team.
“I think we have a chance to be really good,” he said. “We have a good group and we should aim to win the Federal League.”
