Americans demand and expect freedom. America’s history is filled with sacrifice for freedom. What sacrifice would be too great for freedom? Our whole country has marched and marched again for the ideal of freedom. And we have kept it. Not until 9-11 has anyone dared us into war on our own soil. And we immediately said we had to stop this terror that threatened not only America, but the world. We were brave Americans, just as we have always been throughout our history. But then the time came when it started to cost us and we cowered. “America Cowers!” How would you like this headline on a foreign newspaper? We have to set an example to other nations. It’s our duty and responsibility to lead them. We have always protected other countries against things that threaten their freedom. Think of World War II, the Korean War. It comes with being a world power. We have to protect those who can’t protect themselves and fight for what is right. Fight for the ideal our country was founded upon.

Our freedom has even been threatened in our own country. It wasn’t until 100 years after our constitution that stated “All men are equal” that slavery was abolished. And only 84 years ago were women first allowed to vote. These things didn’t come without a fight. Countless black people lost their lives for this cause. Was it worth it for our whole nation to be free? We would probably still have slaves right now if it wasn’t for the struggle for freedom. And women would most defiantly still be in the home instead of at work. Those from other nations long to come to America, if not to live here than to at least witness this great dream that has become a reality in America. They just want a taste of our freedom.

Why can’t they have it too? Faced with terrorism, the world cowers. It is up to us to abolish it. It’s a threat to our freedom and those around us. We must step up to the plate and carry on what our country has so heroically fought for in the past. Freedom. Our country has lost a lot in this battle against terror. Children have lost their parents, wives have lost their husbands and mothers have lost their sons. When the war started to hit home, with help from the media, we became self-absorbed. We got so caught up in our own little worlds and comfort zones we forgot about our freedom and the worlds’. Look at the world trade center and other catastrophes terror has bought to our world. Do you want this to continue? Is this what you really want? Stand up and fight. It is wrong not to support our troops. It is wrong and America stands for what is right. Freedom. Just as in the past, we must fight for our future. If we allow terror to take over our world more then it already has, the cost will be much more. Not only for America, but for the world. Since it is our responsibility, we will take it up and fight for an ideal we have fought for as long as we have existed. We will fight for freedom no matter the cost. It is time again for America and the world to decide if freedom is worth the cost. What is right will come at a great price. As long as there are those on this earth who abuse their power through gross violence, we will fight. Why? Freedom.
