This holiday season thriftiness is the name of the game, and stores are realizing people do not have to spend a lot of money on that perfect gift for that special someone.
Perhaps one of the best ways to give gifts and save money is by making a small candy or goody bag for each person. Bags, candy and even small toys cost one dollar at The Dollar Tree in Pierre Bossier Mall. This is an easy way to let many friends and family know they were thought of, and only spend about $20.
For those friends who enjoy comfort, try getting them a senzum pillow at Hallmark. They come in assorted shapes and colors to match anyone's taste, and, at about $10 each, these pillows are practically a steal.
Sophomore Josh Eyler said, "I have one of those pillows and would recommend them as a gift for anyone. I even bought one for my mom."
The mothers, aunts and sisters out there will love this next gift. Bath and Body Works has several gift baskets with luxurious beauty products. One basket is filled with lotion, shower gel and even a stuffed animal, all in a little sleigh. This basket comes in various fragrances and is only $17.
Junior Amy Foster said she enjoys shopping at Bath and Body Works because, "They have some really great lotions and they are inexpensive, too. They make great gifts for all of my friends."
Hallmark carries a beautiful spiral candle holder with three glass, cone shaped holders along a spiral wire. This gift makes a great decoration along a mantel or dresser.
The little sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews and cousins cannot be forgotten during the holidays. Wal-Mart also sells digital light up watches priced at $10. Girls have the option of Barbie watches for seven dollars.
Wal-Mart sells a pretend shaving kit to make the little brother feel all grown up with his big brother. This seven dollar kit comes with foaming body soap to look like shaving cream, a play razor, a comb, a shave brush and a mirror. These kits come in different movie themes such as The Hulk and Shark Tale.
Wal-Mart also has gloves for two dollars and textured knit scarves for eight dollars. They even have Elf, one of the biggest Christmas movies of the year, for 20 dollars.
Time is running out so be sure to stop by the stores to take advantage of the sales.
