The Regionals for high school girls golf this year was at Deer Run Golf Course. Representing Cypress Creek High School was girls’ golfer, Bianca Hernandez. After her amazing win at Districts at Hunter’s Creek Golf Course, her coach and her teammates were hoping for another good score from her.

She was playing against some strong competition. The team knew that it wasn’t going to be easy to win this one. Practice was the key to everything and that’s exactly what she did. Practice, practice, practice!

The match was to be held on Tuesday October 21st. So the Saturday before, Bianca and the girl’s golf instructor, Coach Hancock, went out and played Deer Run to get a feel of how the course would be on Tuesday. There, she made five birdies in the first ten holes! This was obviously going to be a piece of cake for her.

Coach Hancock was ecstatic!

“That golf course is perfect for the way she hits the ball! I get to miss work for another day if she makes it to state!” he said.

It was finally the big day. There were people all over the place at Deer Run. Bianca started off good; her first three holes were pars. Then, it got ugly. Bianca made a nine and a seven on two of the holes(low scores are better than high scores in golf.)

“A lot of my bad holes were due to the fact that I was hot and tired. It took almost six hours to play,” Bianca said.

Bianca’s final score was an 83; not low enough to go to state. Her coach and her teammates still congratulated her on her success in Districts and how well she played during the season.

“I know that we are all excited for next year’s golf season and can’t wait to get back on the course,” says teammate Leila Aoun.

The Cypress Creek girls golf team can’t wait to see what Bianca Hernandez will bring us next season and for years to come!
