The squeaky-voiced trio and their crazy father are back creating another adventure for the whole family to enjoy! The popular 80’s cartoon, Alvin and the Chipmunks, becomes a live action motion picture, hitting the big screen next week. The actors are real whereas the chipmunks are computer animated. Although, don’t let this fool you into thinking you won’t be getting the entire package. The chipmunks are still filled with humor, leaving the audience laughing until the very end. The three generations of fans are always there for their chipmunks.

The chipmunks Alvin, Theodore, and Simon are still the charming little rodents we all remember. Starring Jason Lee as Dave Seville, Justin Long as Alvin, Matthew Gray Gubler as Simon, and Jesse McCartney as Theodore, Alvin and the Chipmunks is about three chipmunk singing sensations and one hectic man, trying to make it work in the music business. In this adventure, the group has made “recording, broadcasting, and merchandising history” according to www.celebritywonder.com. They are transformed from singing furry creatures into pop stars. Along the way, they wreck Dave’s house, creating havoc with his career and ultimately turning his life upside down.

“I think now it looks more realistic,” said Julie Ana, freshman here at the Creek. “More people will be interested in it and think that it’s cool,” she sates with an exited look on her face. Anda thinks this movie will be better than the old cartoon. But, could the trio lose their touch because of their realism and lack of virtual outlook? Some seem to think that the chipmunks have lost their classic look and aren’t the same anymore. They prefer the original version of the chipmunks because it’s what they’ve seen for years. “Now that the chipmunks are more modern, I don’t think they are as special as they used to be,” said Kerry Lewis, junior at CCHS. “They have lost their touch.”

Could the all-time singing trio that we all love and admire have truly lost what they once had? Have their popularity and fans run away without turning back? There’s only one way to find out; buy a ticket and the largest popcorn you can get your hands on, and snuggle into a theater seat to judge for yourself.
