Technology has drastically changed over the years and will continue to improve. As society craves higher-level technology from their favorite companies, people will become even more attached to these gadgets, thus creating a negative impact on others. - Creative Commons
In the year 2012, technology is consistently changing while software is constantly improving. The world of applied science is becoming one of the nation’s most advanced industries. Just think that if new softwares and electronics continue being developed as fast as they are now, society may eventually become entirely dependent on technology.
Picture this: your English teacher requires a book in class by Monday. Easy! You can just download it onto your Kindle in a matter of seconds. As your teacher turns off the classroom’s Smart-board, the bell rings, and you take out your smart phone to call your parents to pick you up from school. When you get home, you almost immediately sit down on the couch to catch up on the latest episodes on your high definition 3D television. After, you update your social networking profile(on your laptop) and beat your latest high score on your IPad app. This sounds like everyday life, doesn’t it? This is the path society is following on the way to even further technological advances, which could, as a result, produce negative results.
Various videos have been surfacing on YouTube in which babies think that the magazine they are holding is actually a broken computer tablet, as they attempt to move pictures. This shows that new technology has drastically made a difference in the way humans interact with one another. Before we know it, people will hardly know what a book, CD, or magazine is. These progressions may be appealing to many and may also cause some to have attachments to their latest devices, which will eventually serve to produce unappealing results.
Many people can be pulled apart from their friends and family with gadgets constantly at their side. Every beep made on your phone is another temptation, and the actions following each temptation may result in being pulled out of other people’s lives, due to a lack of personal interaction, and into your own cyber-world.
Some may argue that technology can make one’s life faster, easier, and more efficient. Technology can open new doors for one’s education and further improve life at work, home, and school. These advancements have also been proven to help those with special needs by aiding them in the classroom and helping them to function more efficiently. Technological advances are always important in medical and educational areas in order to educate and help those in need. However, one should set their own limitation as to how much technology is to much. People should not have the need to constantly check their phone and drown themselves in music, and should personally interact with those around them.
While new gadgets are fun to play with and enable one to explore the cyber-world in the digital age, it is essential that society uses electronics in moderation, in order to sustain a functional society at all times. Children are being nearly corrupted with modern technology, while people may lose the connection of live communication with others. With technology developing quickly now, years from now, we may be entirely dependent on this technology. It is frightening to think that one day people may not be able to live on their own without technological assistance.
