For as long as band teacher Jason Sebranek has been teaching, the honors band and choir have been entertaining the parents of students and public on a Saturday afternoon playing a selection of music selected by clinicians. Honors band and choir is a program that students participate in to get the full band and choir experience. The band and choir teachers from the eight conference cities form a collaboration band experience, and select the most talented students in their classes to be in one big band and choir experience. Students are selected for the honors band and choir by showing their teachers that they have exceeded the expectations of the directors and are capable of performing on a higher level, of which is more suitable for the students ability. Once the students are selected, the teachers of the bands and choirs hire clinicians to direct their students on a few songs they will eventually perform for their public and parents. This is an extra curricular event, and is not mandatory for selected students. However, this extra curricular only runs for a short period of time before the performance. The PHS students involved in this years honors band consists of seniors Nathan Bachmann, Courtney Bonnett, Raelynn Borhmueller, Holly Henriksen, Jordan Klahn, Donna Lohse, Megan Maki, Alyssa Schelinske, Hannah Scherer, Janelle Schirmer, Lauren Schwalenberg, Ben Smith, Tarran Sippel and Emma Roy, and juniors Kaitlyn Krzyzaniak and Charlie Neidzelkowski The students that are involved in the 2010-2011 school year honors choir participants are seniors Genevieve Gannon, Ross Higinbottom, Lindy Klawonn, Mitch Krahn, Ally McManus, Hayden Potts, Kelly Reineke and Logan Ryan. This year, the honors band and choir performed on Saturday, Jan. 8, one day after their all- day practice, at the Kewaskum High School Field House. The students performed as well as the previous Honors Band and Choir performances have.
