The girls’ basketball team is gearing up for another successful season this year. The team practiced hard in preparation of their first game against Nixa Monday.

The team is hoping to improve upon their 18 & 8 season last year and chances are they will.

“We’ve got some great girls on the team this year, and we have three returning starters from last year, Emily Akins, Molly Robb, and Rana Thomas, who are all ready to contribute a lot to the team.” said Coach Nichols, adding, “I’m confident in our ability this season and we’re all hoping to win at least 20 games this season and improve upon last year’s season.”

Parkview’s big three are hoping to lead the team to more wins, and possibly even a district championship.

“We’re hoping to win 20 games this year, and as always, we’re hoping for a district championship; however we are in one of the toughest districts in the state of Missouri, and a district championship for us would be huge, but we have a long way to go and we have to focus on winning first,” said Nichols.

However the girls are not only in it for the wins, but also for the fiendship and the family of the team.

“The girls listen well to Coach, they always work incredibly hard.  You can really feel the love on the team, it’s a family. Everyone has each other’s backs, and I think that’s really key in building a successful team,” said their former player and current team manager Tenaja Brown.

The girls hard work ended up paying off, that is at least in their first game.

The team ended up winning against a tough Nixa team Monday, 58-48,  will continue to battle their way through the Ozark Tournament this week.

The girls played lost their third game of the season against Ozark, 63-23.
