You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown was performed on February 9th at 6:30 in the TYWLS of Astoria gym. The play was directed by Caitlin Hiebach, a 6th grade drama teacher. It was done by the after school drama club, which includes 6th - 9th graders. The actors all had to audition for the roles they wanted to play. Charlie Brown, the main character, was played by a ninth grader Aja Hopper, who was really impressive playing a boy. All the characters were loud enough so the audience could hear well. The snoopettes projected their voices and used good vocal expression, which helped the songs be loud and clear. The play was musical, so there were many songs. One that stood out was the finale, “Happiness,” which was a great way to wrap up the play. Most of the songs had choreography, directed by Laura Costa. I was impressed by how the actors worked together and remembered their steps. Costume design was also great. Also, the snoopettes had cute costumes with their dog ears and Sally’s costume was great with the jump rope tied around her neck. All of the actors did a very successful job playing their roles, which helped the audience see their relationships between the characters. Throughout the play, Charlie Brown was hated by the other characters, who tell him that he is all alone, but they all realize that he is really a good man.
