With the recent influx of students to the East Stroudsburg High School North campus, the school board has voted to begin construction this summer. The original layout of the building was designed so any addition further on in the future could be easily and appealingly done. What no one foresaw was how soon in the future the design would need to be used. There are simply too many students and if statistics are to be trusted, there will be an even greater increase as families move away from the coastlines of New York City to escape the possible 2012 flooding.

To begin with the new additions, the wings facing towards the front of the building will be added upon so it will resemble a courtyard. The building will be built upon the bus parking and will be pushed back. Along with the increase of classrooms, the gym will also be doubled in size and will closely resemble the South gym, except the North gym will now be two times bigger than that of South's gym.

The most exciting news of all for students is the increase of the cafeteria space and the surprises for next year. The cafeteria will be reconstructed to resemble a food court, including having the food choices available. Some of the restaurants that have already signed the lease are Dunkin' Donuts for breakfast in the morning, Pizza Hut, Hong Kong I, Subway, and Sonic. The Sonic enterprise will also have the drive thru which will be available to seniors who drive their cars. During lunch time, seniors will be able to attain their cars and drive to the Sonic drive thru portion and enjoy their food in their cars.

The East Stroudsburg School District Administration is extremely excited for all of the additions to begin and to be completed by the start of school next year. Be on the look-out for construction to begin and we will keep the student body apprised of the continuing situation and updates can be found at our website.
