Hitting their way to the top, the varsity baseball team starts the season with an undefeated streak.

“I’m happy for them and they are always a strong team, they’ll do well,” said teacher Jeannine Robinson.

The season started with the PV Northern California Tournament in February and will continue through May.

PV students and staff make an effort to try and support their school.

“I haven’t been out this season but I try to get out there to see one or two games every season,” said Robinson.

Coach Ronald Souza’s experience of 21 years, with 18 at PV, looks forward to the season.

“What I look forward to every year, the team to get better and play to their greatest potential,” said Souza.

The team has been striving, with practices daily after school at PV’s home field.

“These kids work very hard individually and as a team,” said Souza.

Other than winning all their games the team has formed a bond playing baseball.

“They do a lot together, they are a tight knit team, they go to lunches, dinners and dances in groups,” said Souza.

Their teamwork comes in handy when the team faces their many tough rivals.

“Foothill and Chico are always pretty intense games and Red Bluff is also a pretty close game,” said Souza.

The upcoming home game against Chico will be a game to see on the 25th of April.

Baseball has brought multiple accomplishments to some of the players. Senior Evan Busby has received a scholarship through his baseball abilities.

“I think that they are well prepared for the future,” said Robinson.
