I admired my grandma's friend's hair. It was past her waist and so beautiful. One day she came in to bowl with my grandma and her hair was much shorter. She told me about the Locks of Love Cancer Society. She donated her hair so that someone else could have a wig. People who are sick with cancer often loose their hair. Locks of Love creates hair that's cut to make a new wig. My hair was long and I decided to cut over six inches of it off to donate to the Cancer Society. I did it the day before Easter so it was like a new present for somebody that has no hair.

My aunt works at a Missoula Hair Salon called, Burton's Hair Classic. She put my hair in pig tails and cut above the rubber band. She then put my hair into a plastic bag and she gave it to Locks of Love.

I felt good to know that I was helping somebody else to make their life a little easier. One of my grandmas had cancer and lost all of her hair. She wore wigs to hide her bald head. Knowing that she went through all this, I thought it would be a good influence on others to donate my hair.

For more information on how you can donate hair go to www.locksoflove.org. It's very important that you don't cut your own hair, because it has to be at least six inches and cut a certain way in order to be used for a wig.
