Chloe Baldino receiving her rose on Valentine's Day - Krisna Maddy

Valentine’s Day is a bittersweet
holiday for those without a valentine, that’s why this group of boys decided to
make it a little sweeter for their classmates.
“Every girl deserves a rose on
Valentine’s Day,” said Ricardo Guerra, a sophomore in Cambridge.
He and his fellow male Cambridge
classmates decided to something unique and unheard of for every girl in their
class as a pleasant Valentine’s Day surprise.
The mastermind behind this plan was
Luis Arreaga.
“I heard some of the girls thinking
that they weren’t going to get anything that day, so I proposed the idea to the
other guys that we should get together and get them something because it’d be
nice, and the idea took off from there.”
Organizing the idea via Facebook,
the boys finally agreed upon getting roses.
“We planned this for over a month,
and it cost about $100,” said Martin Escalante, a sophomore in engineering. He
is also the one who dubbed this idea “Project Love”.
It was not so complicated; the boys
bought bouquets of roses- enough to give each girl a single rose, and made sure
to hide them away from them until the right moment. They also drew names out of
a hat so each guy would deliver a rose to a certain girl, just to give it a
personal touch.
“I was surprised and flattered. I
wasn’t expecting anything like that and it was sweet that they all participated
in it,” said Chloe Baldino, a sophomore in journalism.
Project
Love proved to be a success, the girls enjoyed the kindness and felt special
this Valentine’s Day season.
“The joy a girl feels from
receiving a rose makes the pain of holding it by the thorns worthwhile,” said
Escalante.
