(To the tune of the Addams Family theme song)

As I sit and wonder

Of what to think or ponder,

I notice I have squandered

Because the time is two (p.m.)

What should I do?

School is in six hours;

I need to take a shower,

And all I’ve done is glower

At an empty screen.

Have you ever had that moment when a major assignment is due in the near future, but you just cannot think of what to write? I know I have; in fact, this blog was one of these many assignments that I have put off until last minute. Procrastination, one of many difficult habits to break, and writer’s block are unfortunate obstacles when it comes to writing papers, but when they are combined getting any type of work completed can be almost impossible.

 Indeed, procrastination is an obstruction in the path of a superb paper. Anyone would agree putting off things is very counter-productive, and could possibly stop one from fulfilling ones true potential. Some cannot even sympathize with procrastinators, yet have they actually looked into a procrastinator’s mind in order to truly understand? As a genuine procrastinator, I can tell non-procrastinators, firsthand that putting off things does not have to do with any type of coping skill like some would have you believe. It is merely what I stated before, a habit, and as the old saying goes habits are meant to be broken… or was that rules? Anyway, some techniques are available to help one overcome the habit of procrastination, but I will have to tell you about these tactics at a later time.

             Let’s be honest, you have had that moment when you put off a task. Yet, if you legitimately have not procrastinated ever in your life, you will never truly understand that feeling of panic and distraught the night before your paper was due. Though dilly dallying is a disruptive habit it happens to the worst of us. Hopefully, you will soon overcome this habit with no thanks to me, but if you do not start soon it will be just another one of those tasks you are putting off.
