Every year around this time, things start to get a little weird. The weather is changing, the school year is winding down, and the allure of beach vacations and 90 degree weather is causing the students to forget about school work and focus on the upcoming summer.

     Right now, seniors only have 24 days left until their graduation, and, as a junior, I am kind of excited, but kind of scared out of my mind at the thought of being one of the oldest in the school. Although I realize that everyone has to do it sometime, I am not ready to be a senior.

    It is really scary because I can still remember the outfit I wore on my first day of 6^th grade and it doesn’t seem that long ago. I never thought that the day would come when I would have to schedule my classes for my last year of school or go find a job, because even as a freshman, that day seemed years away.

     At that time, I could never imagine visiting colleges or looking at prom dresses. Spring break just ended and now that we have come back, the rest of the year will just fly by. This summer, I will start my first job and will never stop working until I retire in the year 2059 (Scary thought, yeah I know!)

     After the current seniors leave, the halls will almost seem empty. Some of my classes will be wheedled down to 7 people and although I once found it extremely annoying that I could never get to my locker, now I will almost miss the hustle and bustle.

     Although other kids my age say that they can’t wait to “get out of this place”, I don’t want time to keep passing. I still want to live off my parents, have no bills or responsibilities except keeping my room clean and doing the dishes and with senior year closing in, I just want time to stop.

     Even though this may sound crazy, I DON’T WANT TO BE A SENIOR!!!!!
