This gallery is a collection of the different versions of the most famous portrait in history, from the sixteenth century to present. The exhibition covers the history of the Mona Lisa from when it was made to when it was stolen in 1911 from the Louvre, and the modern history of the portrait. The media used in the recent artworks ranges from paint to ink and print, stencil, stamp, sculpture, and even accessories. The collection includes interpretations by artists like Salvador Dali and Romero Britto. Also in the collection is a newly uncovered painting of the nude Gioconda done by da Vinci’s most favored apprentice, Gian Giacomo Caprotti.
