By Cameron Kauder, Westside High School

Cameron Kauder gives Tower Heist a 9 out of 10 - a must see!

Every year there seem to be several promising heist films. Simply put, “Tower Heist” is the one to watch. The plot revolves around the staff and occupants of an elite New York condo tower, aptly named the Tower. ( Trump Tower is the real life stand in.) Arthur Shaw, one of the Tower’s occupants is a wealthy finance mogul who, as the plot progresses, is revealed to have run a Ponzi scheme and stolen the pensions of the Tower staff. This leads to Josh Kovacs (Ben Stiller) to enlist the help of a few other staff members and a “hardened” criminal (Eddie Murphy) to break into Shaw’s apartment to take back the hidden money that is rightfully theirs. Don’t be misled, this is a comedy, and it should be treated as such. While there are a few tense moments, many are diffused by Eddie Murphy and his hilarious one-liners. There are a few plot holes but they are nothing big and can be overlooked. It is a bit slow paced for the first hour, but it is palpable with the hilarity of the cast and situations. The final hour or so of the film is near perfect. The heist is one of the wackiest and most unbelievable events ever seen in movie history, (a car is seen repelling down the side of the tower) but it fits the rest of the movie perfectly and provides an explosive finale. Overall, while at times the movie can be a bit silly, the truly funny characters and exciting heist scenes make “Tower Heist” a must-see.
