By Delshay Graves

Noelle Johnson
Kaitlin Snapp runs in a state cross country meet.

How can you be known as a legend during your first year of high school? Kaitlin Snapp made it happen. She holds three consecutive state championships for Danville high school girls cross-country. The catch however is that she has become legendary. "I enjoy running. It’s not a subjective sport because it’s based on time and not the judges. I love to run because it’s refreshing and relieves my stress. I am just an active person. Running is a fun way to stay active. I don’t get bored easily," said Snapp. Snapp has been running for the high school track team since she was in the third grade. Then she started running cross country while in fourth grade. "She helped a lot with the team, and having a three-time state champ on the team helps a lot," said cross-country coach Ed McKinney. "I wouldn’t be where I am today without Coach McKinney. He is always very encouraging, and he doesn’t pressure me which makes competitions less stressful. Coach McKinney is the one who got me involved and interested in running," said Snapp. Snapp is not only interested in cross-country because of the running, she also likes to meet new people. "Many of my friends are cross-country runners. The different courses are also fun to run," said Snapp. "I would love to run in college, as long as everything goes well, and I do not have any injuries. So far, I have stayed healthy," said Snapp.
