By Diana Daniel

“Lights, camera, action,” was a phrase sophomore Jian Pierre- Louis heard before, but it new earned meaning when he experienced dancing on the set of Sean Paul’s music video “Get Busy.” Pierre-Louis’s agent, Susie Q, got him the audition;two days later he received the news that he made the cut. “ I believed that I made it because they loved the way I performed and my personality,” Pierre- Louis said. The filming of “Get Busy” took place in Toronto, Canada in December of 2002. In the three days it took to shoot the video, Pierre- Louis got to hang out with Sean Paul, Chris Judd and other Reggae dancers. After filming for eight hours, Pierre- Louis and the rest of the dancers and crew took a ride to see mountains that he described as “absolutely stunning.” “ I get my inspiration from my mother, because she has performed on Broadway, and in Janet Jackson’s ‘Rhythm Nation,’” Pierre- Louis said. Pierre- Louis is currently enrolled in Body Nation Dance Studio, where he practices Hip-Hop, Pop-and-Lock, Jazz and Tap. He is also part of the Magnet Music Program at Krop, and plays the saxophone in the school band. “Music gets my head bobbin. It makes my feet start to move, and it gets me all over the place. I love it because I get to freestyle,” Pierre- Louis said. While he was part of the Hip- Hop Kids, Pierre- Louis danced in an Orange-Bowl parade for New Years, which got them featured in “Entertainment Weekly.” He also performed on channel 2 WLRN, and in Disneyland for a Mickey Mouse celebration with the Hip- Hop Kids. Pierre Louis- said,“Performing taught me that if you have your mind set on a goal you want, and you work for it, you will reach it. Without work success does not exist. Also, use your talent, don’t waste it.”
