Adidas or Nike for Soccer Players?

http://my.highschooljournalism.org/schools/newspaper/tabid/100/view/frontpage/schoolid/4521/articleid/510233/adidas_or_nike_for_soccer_players.aspx

By Stephanie Simon

Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-priority:99; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:12.0pt; font-family:Cambria; mso-ascii-font-family:Cambria; mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-hansi-font-family:Cambria; mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin;} In the world of soccer cleats, two companies stand out among the rest: Adidas and Nike. Both brands are used widely among soccer players, especially among our Oakbrook varsity soccer teams. The question is, which one is the players preference and why? Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-priority:99; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:12.0pt; font-family:Cambria; mso-ascii-font-family:Cambria; mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-hansi-font-family:Cambria; mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin;} Among Oakbrook varsity players, the preference seems to be split down the middle. Junior Amelia St. James said that Adidas cleats are her favorite because she says that “they feel like real shoes” and Nikes seemed “flimsy” to her. On the other hand, all the cleats that eighth grade varsity boy’s soccer player Jacob Simon own are all Nike. Senior Kat Hunter said “Adidas because they fit well. Nike[s] are too narrow for my feet.” Also, varsity boys soccer coach Jonathon Burnett wears his Adidas cleats while he is on the field. From asking our very own varsity soccer athletes, Adidas and Nike both have their pros and cons especially considering the quality of the cleat, and the width of the cleat. So, next time when you go to Academy or Dicks Sporting Goods, you will have to answer for yourself, “Adidas or Nike?”
