The final score was 73-58, resulting in a Lions victory. Before the game, Coach Kent Johnson was anxious. “The boys are excited to get started,” said Johnson “It’s the first game of the season; they’re ready for fresh blood. Coach Johnson has high hopes for the season. “We’ve been preparing for two weeks straight, getting the boys ready physically and mentally for next season.” After the game, seniors Viko Nomaaea, Gary Jacobs, and Maiscei Grier commented on the win. “It [winning] energizes us,” Jacobs said. “It makes us feel like we lived up to the expectations of the season.” Nomaaea said, “We felt like we established ourselves.”
